Overview
A white paper stand-up coffee pouch with a one-way degassing valve, resealable zip lock, easy-open tear notches and an expandable bottom gusset.
The White paper finish creates a premium, shelf-ready presentation, with full front and back panels available for your logo, roast profile, origin information, tasting notes, brewing guidance and other required pack details.
Fitted with a one-way degassing valve, this pouch is designed for freshly roasted coffee beans. Freshly roasted coffee continues to release carbon dioxide after packing; the valve allows internal gas to escape while helping to limit outside air entering the pouch. This helps manage pack pressure while retaining a sealed, shelf-ready presentation.
The 130mm(W) x 210mm(H) + 80mm(G) [SP3] format is designed to hold approximately 150g of coffee beans. If you are packing a different product, the actual fill weight or volume may vary depending on its density, shape, particle size, fill level and the headspace required for sealing and presentation.
We recommend ordering a sample to test pouch fit, valve placement, sealing performance and finished-pack presentation with your own coffee before purchase or commercial use.

Why choose a paper coffee pouch with a valve?
White paper offers a fresh, contemporary alternative to brown kraft. The bright, uncoated surface provides a low-glare background for your logo, roast profile, origin information, tasting notes, brewing guidance and other required pack details.
With no display window or clear panel, the full front and back of the pouch can be used for labels, branding and product information. This is a practical choice for roasters that need room for ingredients, barcodes, batch coding, roast dates, brewing instructions and other legal or retail information, while maintaining a consistent pack appearance across their coffee range.
The metallised construction provides an opaque pack presentation, keeping the contents out of view and limiting light exposure.
The one-way degassing valve makes this format particularly suitable for freshly roasted coffee beans. It allows carbon dioxide released after roasting to escape while helping to limit outside air entering the pouch, helping manage pack pressure after filling.
Uses
What can I pack in it?
Suitable ambient food categories
The final migration report supports use for food packaging across dry, aqueous, acidic and fatty food categories under the stated test conditions and ambient-storage basis. The report identifies the tested pouch as a PAPER+VMPET structure with a PE food-contact material.
Suitable examples include:
This pouch is designed first and foremost for coffee. Freshly roasted coffee releases carbon dioxide for days after roasting, and the one-way valve lets that gas escape without letting air back in.
- Freshly roasted whole coffee beans
- Freshly ground coffee, including filter, cafetière and espresso grinds
- Speciality, single-origin and micro-lot coffees
- House blends and espresso blends
- Decaffeinated coffee beans and ground coffee
- Light, medium and dark roasts — darker roasts typically release gas more quickly
- Coffee subscription, wholesale and retail packs
- Cold brew coffee grounds and brew packs
If your product does not release gas, you do not need a valve — view our Stand Up Pouches. Please do not use a valve pouch for fine powders such as instant coffee or cocoa powder, which do not need a valve and could enter or block it.
Suitable for packaging of dry, aqueous, acidic and fatty foods within the conditions tested in SGS. For curry, sauce, chilled or frozen-food applications, suitability must be checked by you for the specific filling temperature, product formulation, storage duration and process conditions. Not intended for baby food, hot-fill, pasteurisation, retort, boil-in-bag, oven or microwave use unless separately confirmed.
Not suitable
This pouch is not suitable for the following uses. Contact Rightpak before purchasing or using the pouch for any of these applications:
- Hot-fill products, Microwave applications, Oven applications, Retort processing, Boil-in-bag sous vide applications, Steam sterilisation
- Medical devices, Pharmaceutical products, Sterile barrier packaging, Clinical, diagnostic or laboratory applications
- Baby food or infant nutrition products
- Corrosive, flammable, oxidising, toxic or hazardous chemicals
- Agricultural chemicals, pesticides, fertilisers or herbicides
- Liquids, powders fine enough to enter the valve, or products that could block or contaminate the valve
This is not an exhaustive list. If your application is unusual, technical, regulated, temperature-sensitive, chemically active, high-value or safety-critical, check compatibility before ordering.
Product suitability and testingYou are responsible for ensuring that this pouch is compatible with and suitable for your intended product before purchase or use. You should carry out your own checks and testing using your specific contents and packaging process, including fill weight, filling method, heat-sealing equipment and settings, storage conditions, transport conditions, temperature exposure and intended end use.
Product descriptions, suggested uses, and capacity guidance are provided for general information only and do not guarantee suitability for every application. If you are unsure whether this pouch is right for your product, please request a sample and contact Rightpak before placing an order or using the packaging.
Capacity guidance
This size is commonly described as a 150g pouch format based on the contents being coffee beans, but the actual weight it will hold depends on your product’s bulk density, particle size, shape, product settling, required headspace and seal area.
For example, the same weight of salt or sugar, whole coffee beans and light popcorn will occupy very different volumes. You also need to allow headspace for a clean seal, which reduces the usable fill. We recommend ordering a sample to confirm the right fill level, shelf presentation and sealing allowance before ordering in volume.
Heat sealing
This pouch is intended to be heat sealed above the zip-lock closure and tear notch. Actual seal settings and performance depend on your sealer, temperature, dwell time, pressure, product contamination in the seal area, pouch handling and production environment.
Please check that your sealer jaw width and pouch handling suit the seal area available above the zip on this size and validate sealing performance using your own equipment and filled product before proceeding with a larger order or commercial launch.
Because the outer layer is paper, take care not to scorch or mark the outer surface when sealing, and check your sealer settings and dwell time on a sample before production.
Labels and printing
The paper outer takes labels well. The natural, uncoated surface suits paper, printed and matt labels, and works particularly well with simple, single-colour or foiled designs.
Paper is also one of the few pouch materials that suits hand ink stamping. Because the paper is uncoated and absorbent, it accepts ink from a rubber or polymer stamp in a way that a smooth film surface does not, so you can stamp your logo, business name, batch, roast date or flavour directly onto the pouch. It is a genuinely authentic finish and a practical, low-cost route for small batches, market stalls, seasonal lines and trial products, with no minimum label print run.
If you plan to stamp, order a sample first and test your ink, stamp and drying time. Results vary with the ink used, the amount applied and the paper texture, and ink on uncoated paper can take time to dry, and may smudge, bleed slightly or transfer if handled too soon. Stamp before filling wherever possible, so you are working on a flat pouch and can leave the ink to dry fully. We cannot guarantee stamping results, as the ink and method are yours.
Ink choice and food-contact compliance are your responsibility. Rightpak's documentation covers the pouch as supplied and does not extend to stamped or altered pouches.
Because paper is textured and absorbent rather than a smooth film, label adhesion and print appearance can differ from a film pouch. Please test your label on a sample before ordering in volume.
FAQs
Will this pouch hold 150g of my product?
This pouch is designed to hold approximately 150g of coffee beans. Other products may occupy more or less space depending on their density, shape and particle size. We recommend testing a sample with your own product before ordering in volume.
For guidance on pouch size, see our size chart, which suggests suitable bag sizes using examples including pick-and-mix sweets, protein powder and sugar or salt. This provides a useful starting point for comparing products with different densities and forms.
What are the dimensions of this pouch?
The pouch measures 130mm(W) x 210mm(H) + 80mm(G), Width x Height + Total Bottom Gusset.
What does the degassing valve do?
Freshly roasted coffee releases carbon dioxide. The one-way valve lets that gas escape from the pouch but does not let outside air back in, so the pouch does not balloon or put pressure on its seals.
Do I need a valve?
If you are packing whole coffee beans, especially freshly roasted, a degassing valve is strongly recommended. Without one, the gas builds up, the pouch balloons, and it can eventually burst or force a seal open. For products that do not release gas, such as tea, granola or confectionery, a valve is not needed — view our non-valve version of White Paper.
Can I put a label over the valve?
No. A label, sticker or stamp over the valve stops it releasing gas. Please position labels clear of the valve.
Does the valve keep my coffee fresh?
The valve lets gas out and restricts air getting in, which supports your coffee as it degasses. It does not make the pouch airtight or guarantee a particular shelf life. Freshness also depends on your roast, packing process, storage and how the pouch is resealed after opening, so please validate this with your own coffee.
Should I wait before packing freshly roasted coffee?
That is down to your roast and your own practice. Roast level, bean type and resting time all affect how much gas is released. Please test a filled, sealed sample over several days to confirm the pouch does not inflate.
Can you see the product through this pouch?
No. This pouch is paper on both sides and fully opaque as it is layered with a metallic PET barrier. If you would like the contents visible, view our Window Pouches or One Side Clear Stand Up Pouches.
Is the paper the food-contact layer?
No. The paper is the outer layer and the contents are in contact with the inner PE film only. Please request the relevant technical specification and, where applicable, food-contact documentation for your application.
Can I ink stamp these pouches?
Yes, and paper is one of the best pouch materials for it. The uncoated paper surface accepts ink from a rubber or polymer stamp, so you can stamp your logo, business name, batch number, roast date or flavour directly onto the pouch. It gives an authentic, handmade finish and avoids a minimum print run on labels, which makes it well suited to small batches and market stalls.
Results depend on your ink, stamp and how much ink you apply. Please order a sample and test first. Ink on uncoated paper can take time to dry and may smudge or transfer if handled too soon, so stamp before filling where possible and allow the ink to dry fully. We cannot guarantee stamping results, as the ink and method are yours.
Ink choice and food-contact compliance are your responsibility. Rightpak's documentation covers the pouch as supplied and does not extend to stamped or altered pouches.
Can labels be applied to paper?
Yes. Paper takes labels well and the natural surface suits both paper and printed labels. Because paper is a textured, uncoated material, we recommend testing your label on a sample to check adhesion and finished appearance before ordering in volume.
Can these pouches be printed on?
We would advise against it, and we do not offer it. Applying ink and heat to a finished pouch can affect the inner food-contact layer and risks migration, so the pouch may no longer be suitable for food use. Once a pouch has been over-printed after manufacture, it can no longer be relied upon as suitable for food contact, and our technical and food-contact documentation no longer applies to it.
Custom printed pouches work differently. The design is printed as part of the manufacturing process, before the pouch is laminated and formed, so the print is sealed within the structure, and the food-contact layer is unaffected. Get In Touch with us discuss custom printed pouches or Get a Quote.
What is the difference between stock pouches and custom printed pouches?
Stock pouches are ready-made, held in stock and supplied unprinted, so you add your own labels. Minimum order quantity is 100 pouches.
Custom printed pouches are manufactured to order with your design printed into the pouch during production, rather than applied afterwards. You choose the size, material, finish and features, and the print covers the full pouch. Minimum order quantities and lead times apply, and we will guide you through artwork requirements.
If you would like your branding on a stock pouch in the meantime, labels are the right route, and many of our customers start there before moving to custom printed pouches as volumes grow.
Will the paper mark or stain?
Paper is an uncoated natural material, so it can mark, scuff or stain more readily than a film surface, and it should be kept dry. Handle and store the pouches in dry conditions and avoid chilled, frozen or humid environments unless you have validated this with your own product.
Does the paper colour vary?
Paper is a natural material, so shade and texture can vary slightly between production batches, although it’s likely to vary less than brown kraft paper. If an exact colour match matters to you, please order a sample and speak to us before ordering in volume.
Is this pouch recyclable?
No. Although the outside is paper, this is not a paper pouch. It is a laminate: a paper outer bonded to inner plastic layers VMPET and a PE food-contact layer. Those layers are permanently bonded and cannot be separated, so the pouch cannot be processed through paper recycling or plastic recycling routes.
Please do not place these pouches in paper or card recycling. Doing so contaminates the recycling streams. Paper Pouches should be disposed of in general waste.
Are paper pouches compostable or biodegradable?
No. Neither home compostable nor industrially compostable, and not biodegradable. The paper outer would break down, but the inner layer VMPET plus the PE food-contact layer will not, and they cannot be separated from the paper.
A pouch can only be described as compostable if the complete construction has been certified to the relevant standard. This pouch has not been, so please do not label or market it as compostable, biodegradable or eco-friendly.
Why is a paper pouch not recyclable?
It is a fair assumption, and a common one. The paper is only the outer layer. To protect your product, keep it fresh and allow the pouch to be heat sealed, the paper is laminated to inner plastic films, including a PE food-contact layer that touches the contents. Recycling requires materials to be separated into single streams, and these layers are bonded together permanently. That is why a pouch that looks and feels like paper cannot go into paper recycling.
If recyclability is a requirement for your brand, please view our Recyclable White Matt Stand Up Pouches as an alternatively, or contact us to discuss the options available.
How many pouches do I receive?
Products are sold in multiples of 100 pouches and may be supplied in more than one inner bag or carton for safe handling and delivery.
Is there a minimum order quantity?
Yes. The minimum order quantity for ready-made stock pouches is 100 pouches, excluding fully customised pouches.
Stock pouches are sold in multiples of 100, so you can order 100, 200, 300, 400 pouches and above. Fully customised pouches are subject to separate minimum order quantities.
How do bulk-buy discounts work?
Bulk-buy discounts apply when you order larger quantities of the same product and SKU. Different products, sizes, colours or formats cannot be combined to qualify for a quantity discount.
Does the pouch reseal after opening?
Yes. The pouch includes a resealable zip-lock closure to support convenient reclosure between uses. Please validate its performance with your own filled product and expected use conditions before commercial use.
Can I heat seal this pouch?
The pouch is designed to be heat sealed above the zip closure. Seal settings and results depend on your equipment, product, temperature, dwell time, pressure and production conditions. As the outer layer is paper, also check that your settings do not scorch or mark the outer surface. Please test the pouch with your product before commercial use.
Is this pouch suitable for food packaging?
Food-contact suitability must be confirmed for the exact pouch construction and your intended application. Please request the relevant technical specification and, where applicable, food-contact documentation before ordering or using the pouch.
Can I use this pouch for hot products or liquid products?
No general hot-fill or liquid-product claim is made for this pouch. Please contact Rightpak before using it with hot, warm, wet, liquid, acidic, oily or other specialist products.
Are technical and compliance documents available?
Relevant documents may be available for approved business customers. Request access before ordering or using the pouch where your application requires food-contact, technical, regulatory or quality approval.
